Yee Wan, Ed.D., is the coordinator of the English Language Learner program at
the Santa Clara County Office of Education. She also serves as the director for
the Bilingual Teacher Training Program (BTTP), and the California English
Language Development Test (CELDT) Regional Training Center. Prior to joining the
Santa Clara County Office of Education in June 1998, Dr. Wan was a former
classroom teacher and an assistant professor at California State University,
Dominguez Hills.
Dr. Wan has authored and co-authored multiple resource materials for teachers
and administrators to support English learners. Among these documents are a
collection of English Language Development (ELD) standards-based lessons for
grades K-12, the BTTP Standard 19: Teaching English Learners Curriculum,
and observation tools for guiding research-based ELD and SDAIE lessons.
Dr. Wan leads the county’s English Language Acquisition Consortium (ELAC),
which is composed of key administrators who are responsible for overseeing
English learner issues in thirty-two school districts. She also presents
numerous workshops at school/district sites and conferences on an annual basis.
She actively supports the implementation of ELD standards and CELDT at the local
and state level.
